This week our class switched from a half-hour of social studies, to a half- hour of science.  This is Lauren and Charlie! The new bloggers!

In math right now we are practicing our addition and subtraction strategies. In addition we just learned four new strategies they are: standard algorithm, friendly numbers, split it all up, and finally the give and take strategy. Also we recently got our new student and homework packets for the units we think that this unit is going well but we're still waiting for the next unit!!!

Currently in reading our class just finished our biography figures, with our famous figures, King Tut, Jane Goodall, Benjamin Franklin, Roald Dahl , And Frida Kahlo. When you come to conferences make sure that you look at the bulletin board outside the classroom to check out our creations! Our goal is to finish the Phantom Tollbooth before we have to leave on spring break!!!

Right now in writing we are working on our literary essays if your wondering what a literary essay is it's a essay based on a book. So think it this way your writing about reading. Right now we are all writing ours on a book called fox fox is about a bird that loses its wing and gets rescued by a dog later in the book a fox takes the bird away and ditches it in a desert to teach them what it is like to be alone.

Currently in science we are learning about sound. We did a project where our table group made up a noise that you can repeatedly do, like snapping. Then we got assigned jobs, one person was in charge of holding the ipad, one was the sound reader, then the recorder, and lastly the person who makes the noise. We travelled around the school using the app Decibel X, and we wrote down if the lights were on, what room we were in, and how loud the noise was. Then we looked for patterns in the rooms, and the differences.

This week we have conferences we all know Ms.Bierbower is going to say good things about us. This week we had two half days and a no school on friday!

We had a great time this week in Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and we hope that we got good reports in conferences. We also hope that you like us, the new bloggers.
